Cheshire By Train Rural Countryside Forests to walk Parks to enjoy

Prees was the intended destination of an arm of the Ellesmere Canal. However the arm was only completed as far as Quina Brook. The arm is now known as the Prees Branch of the Llangollen Canal, and is navigable for about a mile to Whixall Marina. The next 3/4 mile is still walkable on the towpath as it passes through PREES BRANCH CANAL NATURE RESERVE.

Fenn’s, Whixall, Bettisfield, Wem & Cadney Mosses Site of Special Scientific Interest, straddling the English/Welsh border near Prees, is of international importance for wildlife. THE MOSSES are one of the most southerly lowland raised bogs in Britain and, at 2,340 acres, are the third largest.
