Meols was once the most IMPORTANT ANCIENT PORT in the North-West and still has a small yacht and fishing community on its shore line. MEOLS BEACH is listed in the Marine Conservation Society's Good Beach Guide. The views are excellent – Southport and Blackpool can be clearly seen and on really clear days the hills of the lake district. The FRIENDS OF MEOLS PARK are a community group set up in 2007 to help maintain and improve Meols Park. The TV sitcom Watching used Meols as a filming location as the characters Malcolm & Mrs Stoneway lived in the village. |
