Mockbeggar Hall dates back to 1592.  It was built for Ferdinand, 2nd heir to the English throne, to allow him to watch horse racing on the Meols sands and provide accommodation for them to stay.  From 1910 to 1970 it was a convalescent home for injured railwaymen and now it operates as the LEASOWE CASTLE HOTEL.

LEASOWE LIGHTHOUSE was built in 1763 and is the oldest brick-built lighthouse in Britain.  It was operational until 1908 and at that time had the only known female lighthouse keeper.  It is now the base for the ranger service of the NORTH WIRRAL COASTAL PARK and houses a visitor centre that is occasionally open to the public.

LEASOWE RECREATION CENTRE opened in 1976 and has two swimming pools, a multi-activity sports hall, three squash courts and a fitness suite.

It was from the sea wall at Leasowe, on 20th July 1962 that the world’s first Hovercraft service began – between Moreton and Holyhead. The service only lasted until September, when the craft was damaged by heavy seas and withdrawn.
